Don Melville

Don Melville is an expert in strategy and competitive advantage. In his prior roles as Director at Secor and Senior Consultant at CapGemini, he led a number of activities aimed at achieving strategic excellence for multinational corporations. He is currently a faculty member in the areas of finance, strategy and organization at McGill’s Desautels Faculty of Management. He also teaches on a variety of senior executive education programs. Don holds an MBA degree from McGill University.

Miriam Carver

As a faculty member of the McGill Executive Institute and lecturer in the Desautels Faculty of Management, Miriam Carver’s areas of expertise include leadership development, conflict resolution, negotiation skills, building teams, customer service, executive coaching, and emotional intelligence. She consults with a wide variety of organizations in diverse sectors, from manufacturing and telecommunications to government and healthcare. She holds a Master’s in Education (Counselling Psychology) from McGill University and has completed additional graduate work in Organizational Development and Conflict Resolution.

Maxime Cohen

Maxime Cohen is an Associate Professor of Retail Management and Operations Management, the co-Director of the McGill Retail Innovation Lab, and a Bensadoun Faculty Scholar at McGill University. Before joining McGill, he was an Assistant Professor of Technology, Operations, and Statistics at NYU Stern and a Research Scientist at Google AI. He previously worked as a high-frequency trader and co-founded a real estate investment company. Besides university teaching and academic research, Maxime is actively advising corporations and start-ups on topics related to pricing, retail, and data science. Maxime’s core expertise lies at the intersection of data science and operations management. He has worked on retail, ride-sharing, airline, sustainability, cloud computing, online advertising, peer-to-peer lending, and social networks and has collaborated with different companies including Google, Waze, Oracle Retail, IBM Research, Via (ride-sharing), Spotify, Aldo Group, Cargo, Staples as well as several startups. These projects involved working closely with these companies to develop solutions using tools such as optimization, machine learning, stochastic modelling, econometrics, game theory, and field experiments.

Thomas Dotzel

Dr. Thomas Dotzel has been an Assistant Professor of Marketing at McGill’s Desautels Faculty of Management and University of Nebraska’s College of Business. He is a thought leader in marketing strategy and service innovations with award-winning research published in Harvard Business Review, the Journal of Marketing, and MIT Sloan Management Review. In the executive education area, he helps managers answer questions related to improving a firm’s value, satisfying customers, and measuring the financial value of marketing actions. Prior to receiving his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University, Dr. Dotzel gained several years of industry experience in such areas as the marketing division of BMW Group - Munich.

Christopher Ragan

Christopher Ragan is an Associate Professor at McGill’s Department of Economics and a faculty member of the McGill Executive Institute. He is the founding Director of the university’s Max Bell School of Public Policy and holds the Chair position of Canada’s Ecofiscal Commission. Dr. Ragan is a specialist in helping leaders understand economic issues, trends, and events that directly affect their performance as decision-makers, strategists, consumers, producers, investors, citizens and in other roles they assume over a lifetime. He has taught on the McGill-HEC Executive MBA and has been a visiting Economist for McKinsey & Company, designing and teaching programs around the globe. He is an award-winning educator, public speaker, and publisher with a Ph.D. (Economics), Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Julia Scott

Julia Scott (CPA, CA, CFA, MBA) joined McGill University in 2000 and currently leads the CA and CPA programs at the Desautels Faculty of Management. She is an industry leader in financial accounting and business analysis, and advises people who are working towards their CA designation. She is also a Chartered Financial Analyst and an active member of the CFA Institute. Prior to joining McGill, Julia worked for TD Bank in Toronto and earned her Chartered Accountant designation from Ernst & Young (Clarkson Gordon).
