The McGill Micro-MBA is an introduction to core managerial topics and business functions including financial and non-financial analysis, marketing, operations management and team management. Ideal for young professionals with little to no management experience or education, this program will provide you with the fundamental skills to effectively conduct business. You will leave the program with a greater understanding of business processes and the environment within which businesses operate. Offered in a convenient, digital format, this program is the perfect foundation upon which to build your career in any industry.

Equip your new employees, new managers, and those aspiring to be managers with the fundamentals to conduct business more effectively. This program is ideal for young managers, analysts, coordinators, and associates who do not have a business background or formal business education. While not a prerequisite for the Mini-MBA Series, this is an excellent steppingstone to the program designed for more senior and experienced managers.

The registration fee includes facilitation by our highly rated faculty members, course materials, results-oriented exercises, meal service (continental breakfast, lunch, and breaks) *, and a certificate of completion from the McGill Executive Institute. To successfully complete the course and receive your certificate of completion, you will need to attend all sessions and complete the pre-work for each session.

Alex Boussetta

Alex Boussetta consults with a wide variety of organizations on process improvement, implementing Agile development practices, managing turnarounds and continuous improvement deployments., Alex is a seasoned practitioner with roles as Manager of the Six Sigma Competency Center at Bombardier Aerospace, Corporate Director of Lean at MAAX, and Director, Global Supply Chain and Devices Quality at Blackberry. Alex holds a Masters in Engineering Project Management. He has been teaching Operational Excellence and Lean Six Sigma at McGill University since 2003. 

He also hold a VIP award for his project management and design work at General Electric, a Five Star Award from BlackBerry for product and services breakthroughs, and McGill Dean’s Service Award for Outstanding Contribution.

Miriam Carver

As a faculty member of the McGill Executive Institute and lecturer in the Desautels Faculty of Management, Miriam Carver’s areas of expertise include leadership development, conflict resolution, negotiation skills, building teams, customer service, executive coaching, and emotional intelligence. She consults with a wide variety of organizations in diverse sectors, from manufacturing and telecommunications to government and healthcare. She holds a Master’s in Education (Counselling Psychology) from McGill University and has completed additional graduate work in Organizational Development and Conflict Resolution.

Julia Scott

Julia Scott (FCPA, FCA, CFA, MBA) is a faculty member in Accounting and previously served as Director of the CA and CPA graduate programs at the Desautels Faculty of Management. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst and an active member of the CFA Institute. An industry leader in financial accounting and business analysis, Julia’s goal in the executive education programs is to make accounting concepts accessible to all levels of management. Prior to joining McGill, Julia worked for the TD Bank in Toronto and earned her Chartered Accountant designation from Ernst & Young (Clarkson Gordon).

Christopher Ragan

Christopher Ragan is an Associate Professor and the founding Director of McGill University’s Max Bell School of Public Policy. Dr. Ragan was the Chair of Canada’s Ecofiscal Commission, which launched in November 2014 with a 5-year horizon to identify policy options to improve environmental and economic performance in Canada. He was also a member of the federal finance minister’s Advisory Council on Economic Growth, which operated from early 2016 to mid 2019, and during 2010-12 he was the President of the Ottawa Economics Association.

Dr. Ragan holds a Master’s in Economics from Queen’s University and his PhD in economics from M.I.T.
